Rissani
The desire to portray part of the authentic Morocco far from familiar tourist destinations led Judith Lanius to the small remote town of Rissani in the southeastern Sahara. Rissani: Morocco’s Gateway to the Sahara is the first photography book to focus on the life of this small town adjacent to the vast desert. The people of Rissani; the quotidian life of the town; the surrounding dwellings and the Sahara itself are the subject of the book. The photographs capture vignettes of life, often inaccessible or overlooked by westerners, providing an intimate experience of a special place.
